Our Story
Hokowhitu Bowling Club Inc. was founded in 1937. Our park like surrounds have always been a source of pride and enjoyment to our members, all maintained through voluntary help. We have 3 natural greens, but currently only 2 are in use. They have a reputation throughout the area as being a high quality surface on which to play the game of bowls. We cater to all levels of play from casual or social, through to the most competitive. Our business house twilight competition for non bowlers commences in January, and is always a lot of fun. As well as for bowls, our clubrooms are used by other social groups and organisations making it a community hub for the Hokowhitu area. We have a thriving social section in our club too, which regularly arranges for club get togethers, meals, and other activities to keep social members actively engaged within the club. We are always delighted to welcome new members to our friendly little club, and always seek to promote and encourage participation in the great game that is lawn bowls.
Our Vision
To be the premier bowling destination in the Manawatu region by creating a modern, all-weather
Third Space that champions grassroots participation, embraces our city's vibrant diversity, and
delivers measurable social impact for generations to come.
Our Mission
At Hokowhitu Bowling Club, our mission is to be an open and vibrant community hub that enriches
lives through the connection, fun, and fellowship of lawn bowls. While offering activities for players at
every level, our core purpose is championing grassroots participation and breaking down barriers to
inclusion. We proudly welcome people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds into a friendly,
supportive environment, striving every day to make a lasting, positive social impact on the individuals
and community we serve.
